WEBFI-WordPress-How to Put Your WordPress Site in Maintenance Mode
Are you looking to put your WordPress site in maintenance mode? Having your site in maintenance mode allows you to display a notice to your site’s visitors while you update or fix any issues rather than showing a broken site. In this video, we’ll guide you through how to put your WordPress site in maintenance mode.
For the first method we will be using the plugin ‘WP Maintenance Mode’ which can be found here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-maintenance-mode/
With the plugin installed and activated you want to go under Settings, WP Maintenance Mode to set up the plugin’s settings and more importantly, activate the plugin when you want it to display the maintenance page.
In the design tab, you can modify what is displayed on the page for a visitor of your site to the design and message you want. In the modules, you can activate Google Analytics, add social links, set a countdown timer, and offer a subscription for when your site is live.
The second method to do this would be to use the Seedprod plugin found here:
This is a paid plugin so when it is activated it will take you to the page for you to input the license key for your site for it to work properly. With the license key added you can edit the settings under Settings, Coming Soon Pro where you can enable the plugin and the type of page you want active.
This plugin allows for greater customizations as well as pre-built templates to help you have a beautiful coming soon page for your site.

thanx for at great video .. ! I might add, it didn't work for me at first, kept saving the settings, but no changes in the browser .. well solution, you have to open your website in another browser to see the changes .. and when you log out of wordpress and restart your browser, the maintenance will appear as well.

Hi, Thanks for a nice video tutorial. I was actually looking for something like putting a specific page on maintenance mode, not the whole website.
Why not the first one that says "Coming Soon Page & Maintenance Mode by SeedPod? It has over 3700 5 star reviews! The one you downloaded has 224 reviews at 4 star. I'm just curious.
very searchable video… i got it… Thank You so much…. 😘😘
Worked as Instructed. Thanks
Hello mine is not changing to the maintenance page I set up
My designer who is no longer working on my site set this up. My question is can I access the site on a tablet or phone while it's in maintenance mode? Is there any way round this other than deactivating maintenance mode while I show the draft website to friends? I don't want to make it public yet, not ready. Thanks
Thank you so much!
This was very clear and thorough. Thank you so much.
Thank you
If I have 2 webpages, how can I put on maintenance only one of them?
yay! Gotcha big help
Thank you, this was very helpful.
There is a problem w this plugin. Once you Activate maintenance mode, once you DEactivate it again, the maintenance page stays. Cannot get rid of the maintenance screen even after I disabled the plugin. ?
Thanks – I think I did everything right – but when I go to my website, my messed up version is still there! I also tried adding my own background but it doesn't show up in the admin area – is it supposed to?
Hi, can i just say what a great set of videos / tutorials, they have helped me immensely, keep up the good work

For whatever reason this did not work for mines. Yes, I followed every step she mentioned.
Thanks for the video. It was just what I needed, and was quick and easy.
Worked perfectly! Thank you! 😃
Manage-Settings-General tab-Privacy-choose "Coming Soon", no plugin needed.

I did this last week today I checked my site from my phone and my homepage is showing up while I am still redoing it everything else shows up on maintenance mode so frustrating. Whats more frustrating is that I never took it off maintenance mode all I did was deactivate the jetpack plug in because my photos won't show up with it so frustrating any tips? 🙁
Thank you 😃 😃 😃 😃
Figured my issue out in the first 57 seconds. Got right to the point. Great content. Thanks!
