For this tutorial we will be using the Menu Image plugin found here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/menu-image/
With that plugin installed and activated, you can now go under Appearance, Menus to create your social media menu. We’ll be creating a new menu by clicking the create a new menu link and naming it Social media.
We’ll add a few custom links to our different social media profiles using the Custom Links section. With the plugin being active, you should now see a Menu image button that you can click to upload an image of your choice if you don’t have an icon you want to use we have a list of free icon sets you can use here:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/showcase/16-best-free-social-media-icon-sets-for-wordpress/
Now that you have an uploaded image you can select the image size, the plugin generates image sizes for you to select from. You can decide if you want the title visible with your icon or if you want to completely hide the text and only have the icon visible. Now when you visit your site, you can see the icons in your menu area instead of text.

What if I need to add social icons menu beside an existing menu?
Thank you so much for having this video 👍
Have you done any tutorial for any theme of WordPress.
Thanks for this video. Quick question. my website is onelifedxb.com and when I follow the above instructions, no matter how high res my icons are in the source png, they appear fuzzy on my site. Do you have any idea why? It's the whatsapp logo top right as well as the location pin top right. If you notice to the left of it, I have very crisp twitter, instagram and facebook icons, those are from the 'social links' menu, but when I add the same links for google maps and whatsapp there, the icons don't show up. I don't mind if the icons are on social links, or on the menu beside it, I just hate the blurry icons so would appreciate any help..
This was very cool. Thank you!
Thanks for the tutorial! Several of the links to the icon sets are not up to date though, and can't be used: https://www.wpbeginner.com/showcase/16-best-free-social-media-icon-sets-for-wordpress/

how to i can creat the icon media social at the footer?
Thought it worked and it did and my icons are all in there but they've replaced all my menus to click to go to my other pages. What did I do wrong?
thanks
Does not give me the ability to add image
Does this work for secondary menu as well?
Hi, how can I move the icons? I would like them to go to the right side or place them one below the other. Thanks!
So these icons when installed will link to your site? These are not the ones that simply share to your site? I had installed social warfare but the icons they have only share. I want someone to be able to click on and go to my actual Facebook page.

did not work
hey! Can I use this on my contact page?
Hi, thank you for the vdeo, but, unfortunately, in the custom link, I cannot add an image to it, only the URL and the label are shown. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?
My dashboard is setup very different than this one. I remember this one and I loved it, but mine is different. I have to go through Customize and Active Site to get to Menus. I was able to create a new menu and add a custom link, but nowhere is there a 'Set Image' button. I activated the plugin as well. I'm trying to figure it out, but if you have any suggestions, then I'm all ears.
Thank you very much Mam

On the dropdown menu there was no way to set the image, even after I installed the Plugin, Menu Images. There was something that said I also had to install Font Awesome, so I downloaded that as well, but it's still not showing up. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? And thank you. Other than this little snag it was going swimmingly.
Don’t see the option to add custom image, has something changed?
Thank you this was great!! I actually managed to do it on my own with the help of this tutorial. I have never created / edited a wordpress site before so I need all the tutorials I can get!! This was so helpful and simple

The “set image” option isn’t coming up? Any suggestions?

Also, l have no option for "primary menu", l only have… Auto add pages Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu Display location Header Menu (Currently set to: Main Menu) Extra Menu (Currently set to: Footer Menu) Sidebar Menu.
